Be Really Precise with a Spoon Scale

Be Really Precise with a Spoon Scale

Anybody wanting to check their grinder is dispensing the correct amount of coffee would be interested in one of these clever little gadgets. Until recently most baristas would rely on a flat bed set of battery scales to weigh the coffee. This would typically involve taking a piece of paper , weighing the paper then zeroing the scales before dispensing the coffee onto the paper and returning the paper onto the scales for a measurement. This was always a somewhat clumsy approach as coffee could be spilt, or the scales could switch themselves off and the barista would have to start again.

Thankfully the new spoon scale removes the need for this fiddly process. The spoon scale is pocket-sized and easy to use. Simply switch the scale on and grind direct into the spoon receptor to gauge the coffee weight. The spoon scale can weigh up to 30 grams and is accurate to 0.1g. These are also inexpensive in comparison with the old style scales that could cost anything up to 70 plus. Now every coffee geek can afford accurate scale and make sure their grinder is in check.
